Adam Roth’s primary goal is to make Judaism accessible to all. Through agency and community resources, Adam works with our community’s early childhood centers, religious schools, and Jewish day schools to ensure diverse learners are able to achieve success within their educational environment. Additionally, Adam works with the Jewish Federation’s family of agencies to provide insight into best practices and to assist in fostering an inclusive organizational climate that benefits all stakeholders. The Jonathan Sinay Building at 1721 Springdale Road in Cherry Hill, NJ:
The new state-of-the-art facility enables older adults and young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to spend their day in a safe, engaging environment. The renovations of the building gave new life to an aging multipurpose building and provides space for two cornerstone day programs: The Aleph Adult Day Center, run by Aleph Home Care a department of JFSNJ; and the To Our Positive Success (TOPS) day habilitation program, administered by Jewish Family and Children’s Services (JFCS).
Weinberg Commons Supportive Apartment Living:
With support from the Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey (JFSNJ), older adults and adults with disabilities can live with independence and dignity while receiving the necessary support to thrive with peers.
Developed in partnership with JFSNJ, Pennrose, and PennReach, Weinberg Commons is an award-winning affordable housing community for older adults (age 55+) and adults (age 21+) who are enrolled in New Jersey Department of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) in Cherry Hill, NJ.
This 160-unit development features one- and two-bedroom apartment homes and includes 8 quad units (with a total of 32 one-bedroom apartments) designated for adults with intellectual and developmental in the form of congregate cottages.
All quads have access to onsite, wraparound supportive services, as well as easy access to existing Jewish Federation and family of agencies programming and services. Residents enjoy an inviting community room, fitness center, computer lab, and onsite laundry facilities.
With a full-time activities coordinator, residents with disabilities have a variety of fun activities planned for them to enjoy a vibrant social life.
Basic Eligibility Criteria for Adults with Disabilities
Must meet Pennrose affordable housing eligibility and pass required credit/criminal checks.
Residents must be a current New Jersey resident.
Residents must be at least 21 years of age and New Jersey Department of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) eligible.
Preference will be given to individuals residing in Camden, Burlington, or Gloucester Counties, however, applicants living in other counties will be considered as openings are available.
Rental Assistance: Residents will need either State Rental Assistance Program funds (Department of Developmental Disabilities consumers will be eligible for rental assistance through the Supportive Housing Connection) or private funds to pay the rent. To apply for the State Rental Assistance Program all residents will need 3 months of bank statements, social security award letter within 3 months of occupancy, birth certificate, social security card. If not eligible for a voucher through DDD there must be evidence of ongoing income to self-pay for the rent.
Support Services:
To pay for support services, residents need to have either:
New Jersey DDD Community Care Program (CCP) budget OR
Supports Program (SP) budget supplemented by private pay and/or Personal Preference Program (PPP)
